The Chinese Urgent Action Working Group undertakes urgent actions on behalf of Chinese Human Rights defenders in distress. The group provides channels for communication with relevant United Nations and regional diplomatic offices, as well as public advocacy and legal aid.

(2009）齐崇淮是山东省的记者，作家以及人权捍卫者，目前他正在监狱遭受严酷的死亡虐待。 作为对他揭露滕州政府腐败大楼的报复，齐在2008年5月13日被滕州法院以“敲诈勒索罪”判处四年有期徒刑。 齐在监狱遭受的虐待非常严重，并且越来越糟，齐遭遇了最近一起谋杀，我们担心他不能在服刑期间挺过去。

(2009) Qi Chonghuai is a Shandong-based journalist, writer and human rights defender who is currently suffering serious and life-threathening abuse in prison. Qi was sentenced to four years of imprisonment by the Tengzhou city court on May 13, 2008 on grounds of "extortion and blackmail", in direct response to publishing articles exposing corruption in the Tengzhou city government.

Abuse of Qi inside prison is serious, and is getting worse. Qi was recently the victim of an attempted murder, and we now fear that Qi might not survive his prison term.

(2009年）谢福林是一个坚定维权人士，湖南省长沙市的维权培训者，组织者。谢还是泛蓝联盟的成员以及中国人权论坛的发起人之一，是一个关注强制拆迁的热心研究者，并且给整个湖南省面临非法占用土地的农民和城镇居民提供帮助，谢当年被关押在长沙市看守所，7月22日在一个茶厅被长沙公安局芙蓉区分局拘留，随后以“偷电罪”逮捕。似乎是在国庆六十周年庆提前清场的一个行动。

(2009）Xie Fulin is a longtime Human Rights defender, trainer and organizer in Changsha city and Hunan province in general. Xie is a member of the Pan-Blue Alliance and co-founder of the China Human Rights Forum, and have been an avid researcher concerning forced eviction, and provided help to farmers and townspeople facing illegal land requisitions all around Hunan province.

Xie is currently being held at a detention center in Changsha, detained on July 22 by members of the National Security Unit of the Furong District Public Security Bureau (PSB) while in a tea house, and arrested on the charge of "Stealing electricity" the following day, in what seems to be a preemptive move against Xie before the upcoming 60th Anniversary of "New China".

Xie's brother is likewise being held. Xie's neighborhood committee is currently in a legal process with its electric supplier, a situation that does not pertain in any way of form to Xie as an individual.

(2009年）胡白自90年代初一直是人权卫士。胡白参加了民主大同党的工作，倡导言论自由和平等。在大同党将合并后的新民主党。由于胡白参与民主宣传，胡被囚禁三年多来，被判“煽动颠覆国家政权” 。释放后，胡拜继续参与民主问题，以及进行广泛的农民培训，跨越几个省捍卫农民的权利，并支持对土地的法律诉讼
胡白在2008年在广东省协助组织和宣传代表人权火炬。一些与会者现关押在劳教所，有些则躲藏。胡白在运动中的地位和作用被警方发现，2008年7月警方从广东佛山市警方在一个组织者的文件中发现胡的作用，

(2009) Hu has been a human rights defender since the early 90's. Hu joined the pro-democracy Da Tong Party, working to advocate for freedom of speech and equality. The Da Tong party would later merge with the New Democracy Party. Due to Hu's involvement with democracy advocacy, Hu was imprisoned for over three years, convicted of "inciting to subvert state power". After release, Hu Bai continued to work with democracy issues, as well as carrying out extensive farmer rights training for farmers spanning several provinces, as well as supporting legal challenges against land appropriations.

In 2008 Hu assisted with organization and advocacy on behalf of the Human Rights Torch relay in Guangdong province. Several of the participants are now incarcerated in RTL camps, some others are in hiding. Hu's position and role in the campaign was uncovered by Police from Foshan city in Guangdong when Police found documentation regarding Hu's work on a fellow organizer in July 2008.

Hu's old home, as well as the home of his family and girlfriend has been under surveillance. Hu continues to live in hiding, much like another Guangdong organizer, Fan Songping (范颂平) (see below), waiting for the risk to dissipate.
